The electric windlass is mounted in the central bilge where the 400 feet of 3/8" anchor chain is stored.

There are bow rollers installed at the bends in the route of the chain from the manual windlass on deck to the electric windlass in the bilge.

A side benefit is additional stability. We were filmed with a video camera sailing next to a sloop rigged Pearson 424. It was clear we were sailing faster and our bow was riding higher.
